Surfaces We Print On

Surfaces We Print On

Versatile Printing for a Wide Range of Wall Materials

Printable Surfaces uses advanced vertical printing technology designed to print directly onto many common and specialty wall surfaces. Each project is evaluated individually to ensure proper adhesion, color accuracy, and long-term durability.

Below is a general overview of the surfaces we most commonly print on.

Painted Drywall

The Most Common & Ideal Surface

Painted drywall provides a smooth, consistent base that produces excellent color vibrancy and fine detail.

Best for:

  • Residential interiors
  • Offices and corporate spaces
  • Retail environments

Notes:

  • Works best on smooth or lightly textured walls
  • Satin, eggshell, and matte finishes typically perform well

Brick & Concrete

Bold Texture with Character

We can print on brick and concrete surfaces to create striking, industrial-style visuals that work well in commercial and public environments.

Best for:

  • Commercial interiors
  • Gyms and studios
  • Restaurants and modern spaces

Notes:

  • Texture affects fine detail
  • Color appearance may vary based on surface porosity

Wood & MDF Panels

Warm, Natural Surfaces

Wood and MDF panels offer a unique aesthetic, allowing artwork and graphics to integrate naturally with architectural elements.

Best for:

  • Feature walls
  • Branded installations
  • Decorative panels

Notes:

  • Smooth, sealed surfaces yield the best results
  • Grain and tone can influence final appearance

Metal & Composite Panels

Clean, Modern Finishes

Metal and composite surfaces are suitable for select applications where a contemporary look is desired.

Best for:

  • Office interiors
  • Retail and commercial environments
  • Accent installations

Notes:

  • Surface coating and finish affect adhesion
  • Evaluation required prior to printing

Canvas & Specialty Substrates

Artistic & Custom Applications

In addition to walls, we can print on canvas and certain specialty vertical substrates for custom art and display applications.

Best for:

  • Decorative art pieces
  • Framed or mounted installations
  • Custom design projects

Textured & Specialty Walls

Evaluated on a Case-by-Case Basis

Textured walls, specialty finishes, and unique materials can often be printed on, depending on texture depth and surface condition.

Examples include:

  • Light orange-peel texture
  • Stucco (interior)
  • Architectural wall finishes

A site review allows us to determine feasibility and set clear expectations.

Surface Evaluation Matters

Every wall is different. Before printing, we assess:

  • Surface material and condition
  • Texture depth
  • Paint type or coating
  • Location (interior or exterior)
  • Environmental exposure

This ensures the best possible result and long-term performance.

What We Don’t Recommend

While our system is versatile, certain surfaces may not be suitable, including:

  • Loose or flaking paint
  • Extremely uneven or crumbling surfaces
  • Heavily damaged walls without preparation

If a surface requires preparation or alternative solutions, we will advise accordingly.
